Jonny is the founder and executive director of Imerman Angels, a one on one cancer support network. People are matched up as closely as possible based on their cancer type, age, and gender. Imerman Angels is a great organization and has approximately 850 angels who are ready to give their support to newly diagnosed people. Their five year mission is that by January 1, 2013, every cancer fighter in the U.S. will have free access to a cancer survivor within 24 hours of being diagnosed. Surgery to remove testicle, surgery to remove 4 tumors along spine (Relapse), chemo (bleomycin, etoposide, cisplatin),… lots of drugs !!!!! (pain pills !ha)

What did you do right after you were told you had cancer (initial reactions)?

I was very chill.. just sat back in my chair… soaking it all in….

Did you tell your friends and family? How did they react?

I cried when I told my brother.. hardest part was telling my family who I knew was so scared for me.

Were you treated differently after telling people you had cancer? If so, did they have any positive or negative affects on you?

It was all positive for me, many people stepped up and were so caring, some I didn’t even know that well.

Do you have any advice for people who have just found out a family member or friend has cancer?

Instead of calling, send emails and texts – tell the F how much you care about them, tell them you want them to be well, tell them you are sending good energy and prayers… make statements instead of asking questions.. let the cancer F tell you what he/she is comfortable with…

Knowing that we are shaking the cancer world and helping people who feel isolated… I love it !!!!!! people are quick to tell you how much you help them…!

Working out, basketball, other sports, people, social stuff, people, people, people ha!

I like a little of everything ! a little rap, a little pop, a little alternative… my favorite of all time is Tupac ! he’s still alive !

Favourite tv shows or movies?

I really don’t watch either !!! can’t sit down ! too busy !!! ha

Is there anything you would like to tell someone who has just been diagnosed with cancer?

I tell them that I know someone who beat EXACTLY what they are fighting!!!!!

Have you changed in any way at all since your diagnosis?

All I care about is helping people ! I wear a tshirt everyday…for the cause.. material stuff is exactly that – 

nothing !!! good peeps like Meggers are what’s important!!!!!!!
